We’ve put together a concise factsheet highlighting the most important aspects of the EU’s Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation. With the first delegated acts expected in 2026, now is the right time to start preparing for the upcoming requirements. As the first product group–specific rules begin to roll out, we will keep this document updated to ensure you always have the latest information.
The Ecodesign Regulation promotes the integration of environmental considerations and life-cycle thinking into product design. Building on the Commission’s Sustainable Products Initiative, legislation came into force on 18 July 2024 and it will replace the current Ecodesign Directive with a more comprehensive regulation. Key updates include an increased focus on circular economy principles, emphasising product durability, recyclability, and the introduction of digital product passports (read more about DPP from here).
